The Gallery’s START program has been encouraging South Australia’s youngest artists for six years, inspiring the creativity of tens of thousands of young art lovers at the monthly START days.
START at the Gallery is celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and culture with special tours of the Desert Salon in TARNANTHI, traditional games, activities, and music.

Join the special tours and look at the brilliant sculptures and canvas desert paintings from Central Australia of the Desert Salon in the TARNANTHI exhibition.

Pulgi Wodli Building and Games
Learn about the seasonal living patterns of the Kaurna and Ngarrindjeri people, and how to make a traditional Aboriginal shelter using branches and leaves.

See the sculpture birds in the TARNANTHI Desert Salon and sculpt your own bird in clay, or chalk up the gallery courtyard and contribute to the collaborative desert-inspired landscape.
