This workshop is an opportunity for members of the general public to experience the craft of mat or basket weaving. Participants are led by the Bula’bula artists – whose work is on display in the Nganmarra exhibition. They are shown the basic steps in starting a mat or basket (same starting point for both) and then each participant continues their own project – with assistance from the weavers where required.
Places are limited to around 20 people at one time, and participants are welcome to come and go as they please. Latecomers usually find it easy to join in.
All materials are provided. No bookings required.
Come and go as you please between 3pm – 5pm Sunday 11 October, on the lawns in front of the museum.
