School Holiday Program: Tropical Blooms 11-15 January
Award winning Torres Strait Islander artist Brian Robinson has created workshops for 5 – 12 year olds inspired by his installation, Custodian of the blooms on display in TARNANTHI. Activities include weaving windmill spinners and making small angel fish sculptures from plastic strapping and paper as well as decorating and creating your own bloom garden from paper using templates provided by the artist. Tasks developed for this workshop look at how plants in the environment are used in creative ways by Indigenous people.

Nganmarra: The Container of Life workshop
This workshop is an opportunity for members of the general public to experience the craft of mat or basket weaving. Participants are led by the Bula’bula artists – whose work is on display in the Nganmarra exhibition. TARNANTHI Art Fair
More than 40 art centres from across Australia will be present at the TARNANTHI Art Fair on the Festival’s opening weekend at Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute, Adelaide. Festival-goers will have an opportunity to buy works of art priced between $50 and $10,000 directly from artists and art centres at Adelaide’s first national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Fair. Practical workshops including weaving workshops led by the Tjanpi Desert Weavers will be part of the fun.
